Over the weekend, we were in my hometown for one of my very best friend's weddings. I met this little ginger around the age of three and it was friends at first sight. We grew up together on the same circle we called "The Community." Over the years there have been many, many a game of kickball and hotbox played. Many, many nights spent playing spotlight until all hours. I was there the day a bird pooped in her mouth... and the day she busted half of her front tooth out roller blading. One Christmas we even put on a Christmas dance production for the neighborhood patrons which we made them pay to watch. (no worries the money went to buy presents for an angel tree child.. two, I believe). We called ourselves the "Jazzy Reindeer." I will never forget the first time I ate supper at the Kalich house and they asked if I wanted milk with my pizza. I may or may not have thrown up in my mouth a little. (I have never.. ever... had a glass of milk in my whole entire life.. not even in my bottle)
I cannot believe all of those good times were so long ago and that we are all grown up... and married!! Chris is a lucky, lucky man and Liz is a pretty dang lucky gal!
The whole weekend was perfection, starting on Friday with the bridesmaids luncheon. It was held at the adorable "TurnRow Book Company" in downtown Greenwood. We had Shrimp & Grits and homemade biscuits from the Viking Cooking School... and the most delicious cupcakes I've ever had in my life. I am still dreaming about them... And we got a new pair of "dancin' shoes." Can't complain about a new pair of Toms. Whoop Whoop!!
On Friday night, we had the rehearsal followed by a very Kentucky themed dinner at Yianni's. The whole restaurant was decked out in Kentucky Derby goodness. Cups, Napkins, Magazines, Giant Horseshoes, Confetti... you name it.. it was precious! And we dined on some Delta Fried Catfish. Can't beat that!
The only pictures I took on Friday. Bad blogger. |
Beatiful Cake. The grooms "cake" was an assortment of their favorite GiGi's Cupcakes. Heaven. |
Sweet Little Family Minus the Little One. The Full Mass Catholic Wedding Got the Best of Her. |
More Fam. I believe this is a framer! |
Best Frans and the Chris Weaver of the Chris Weaver Band. They were beyond fun! |
After the Mississippi State fans killed the Kentucky and Vandy fans in our chants with pom pons for the exit, we all headed down the street to the Alluvian. And things got a little too familiar..
Left: Kate at the Alluvian Bar 3 years ago at my wedding festivities. Right: Kate on Saturday |
Left: Kate and Michaelle serenading the crowds in the Alluvian Lobby at my wedding festivities. Right: Jonny joined Kate to entertain. |
Left: Fascinated with apples 3 years ago. Right: Apparently still fascinated with the apples.... Just keepin' it classy folks. |
And somehow I managed to not get one picture of the bride and groom together...
Way to go Callie!
On Sunday, Kendol and I woke up to the best homemade, country lunch in the world.
Fried Chicken
Butter Beans
Potatoes in White Sauce
Turnip Greens
Cornbread &
Sliced Tomatoes
Then it was nap time...
Happy Happy Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Tardio!
Everything was pure perfection.
