Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one. new make-up
Ok so this is always fun!! Rare, but fun. I went to Ulta yesterday in search of some new make up that Pink LouLou suggested on her blog last week!! Let's face it, I have been wearing the same blush since 7th grade, I thought it might be ok to switch it up. She suggested a "Nars" blush and the "Smashbox" shimmer. Well, I was only successful in fiding the shimmer, but I love it!! I will have to get to Sephora at some point to find the blush. Is there still a Sephora in the new J.C. Penny is Dogwood, or did it close when the Sephora store opened in Renaissance??

two. new o.p.i.
Speaking of fun at Ulta, it's always fun to check out the O.P.I. colors, especially when they are by two get one free. (I am a sucker for any type of "deal") So I left with three fun new colors.
~My Chihuahua Bites
~Cozu-Melted in the Sun
~ and I can't remember the third, but it's a purply-pink

three. keifers
On Friday night, we went to Keifers for Cody's big 2-6. He's officially on the wrong side of his twenties hehehe... I can say this, bc I still have exactly one week. Where has the time gone?? GEEEZZZ  (at least we are still the youngest of our age, right Cody??)
The night started at Keifers

And the night ended with this at Phillips!
 four. crawfish and sunshine
On Saturday Kendol, Krista, Cody and I made our last trip to Mudbugs for the year.
Sad. Day.

five. luke bryan/doobie brothers
If you didn't catch the Crossroads of Luke Bryan and The Doobie Brothers on  GAC, I suggest you look for a re-run. Trust me.

six. morning workout??
Ya'll will never guess who worked out this morning... This girl!! I have decided that since I usually do spin class, the elyptical or run at the gym in the afternoons... with the occasional round on the ab machines, that I needed to be doing something with my upper body and arms. I refuse to do weights at the gym with all of the body building men, using insane sized weights and making inappopriate noises with each curl... meanwhile I'm over in the corner with my 5 or 10 lber's looking like a fool.

So Kendol and I put together 5 little free weight programs for me to do with 6 exercises each.
I am going to attempt to do the programs once a week in the morning
(at home, while watching Home Improvement).
Monday: Shoulders
Tuesday: Abs
Wednesday: Arms
Thursday: Abs
Friday: Back
(switching up the order, of course, and eventually get to using heavier weights)
I did three sets of 15, of each of the six exercises and it took no time!! And even better than working out, I actually put my make-up on at home, "fixed" my hair instead of the blow dry and run method I usually do and I was 15 minutes early for work. GO ME!!

seven. beach and birthday
6 days until we leave for the beach
7 days until the 4th of July
(American Flag swimsuit is already packed.. no worries)
8 days of until my birthday at the beach

Let Your Light Shine!!

This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let It Shine

No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
~Matthew 5: 15-16

I just ran across this verse earlier today and it has stuck with me. I have been singing "This Little Light of Mine" all day!!! So, I went to youtube to find the song and I came across a new (newer) version of it that is AWESOME!!!! I felt like I needed to share.

There's a line in it that seems to fit perfectly with the weather today and the floods that have been happening all around us.

"The rains will come
and the waters rise
but don't you ever
lose your light"

Let your light shine bright today and everyday!!

Thankful Thursday

On this Thursday I am thankful for my precious family.
Pardon me while I brag on them a little.

1) As of May 26th, my sweet parents have been married fro 32 years!!! What an accomplishment in todays crazy world. They are the best!!

2) As some of you may know, my mother retired at the end of the school year with 30 years of teaching under her belt!! She will start teaching at Pillow Academy in August!! So proud of her for finally retiring from the public school system.

3) Little Hayes can now sit up like a pro and is just the cutest thing ever. If she would lay on her stomach for more than 2 seconds without screaming bloody murder, she would be able to crawl too. She will figure it out one day ha! O, if she only knew what all she could get in to. And sweet Hayesy got christened a few weeks ago. How gorgeous is she in her christening gown. She hated that thing, but she sure looked like a doll.

with her Aunt Eleanor and Aunt Jordan... Clearly, she is not a happy camper
3) My little sister, Eleanor, won the jump competition for the entire highschool cheerleader camp at Southern, yesterday. So proud of her. She is just so good!!! GOOOO POOCH!!! Wish I could be there to watch :(

4) As most of you know, Kendol is a boy scout leader and is president of our homeowners association. Although, I  think he's lost his mind, I am proud of him for everything he does. It takes a special person to volunteer for boyscouts without a child in the troop and it takes a special person to have the patience to put up with 420 houses worth of people, most of which are older than you. I know I couldn't do either of the two, so more power to him!!!

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Psalm 107:1

Over the Weekend

"Lord have Mercy"
~ in my best Uncle Jesse voice

For one more month, I am still "not old"... after that, I will be "officially old" and on the wrong side of my twenties. When did we get so old?? When will I learn that I am not longer 21, and I just can't hang like I used to?

My Friday night was spent cleaning the house, making oreo balls for Saturday's festivities and making sloppy joe's and mac n cheese.

Now on to Saturday...

This was the view in our side yard... And we wonder why our neighbors hate us...
Had it not been a scorching 125 degrees outside, we may not have made such a scene with the tents and all, but they were completely necessary to keep each one of us alive. My day began at 7 a.m. when Kendol began weed eating RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW. I don't think I could have been any more mad bc I was planning on sleeping until like 10, of course. Finally at 8:30 I give up the fight and called Ann-Hamilton to see if I can come play, bc let's face it, I don't know of one thing I could possibly be doing this early on a Saturday morning.

This is when I realized it was going to be a LONG DAY!!! Her and Hayes picked me up and we headed off to the Farmers Market/Nursery to get a few flowers to plant in our pots on the porches... let's just say there was absolutely no need in taking a shower bc by the time I got home and planted the plants, my shirt and hair were completely soaking wet. Then, as soon as I had gotten inside and cooled off, Kendol needed me outside to help put up the tents... So by 11 a.m. I was drenched in sweat, for the second time, and the crawfish boil hadn't even started.

At this point, I threw up my hands to the ponytail God's and pulled my hair back... Besides working out, you will VERY RARELY see me with my hair in a ponytail... O my gosh it's an awful look. If it's in a ponytail, you know it's been a rough day and you should probably refrain from speaking to me. Just like in the mornings... I do not speak until after lunch. It would be in your best interest, to leave me be.

To have been outside sweating for hours, I'd say we were looking pretty good ladies.

At 1 o'clock the crawfish boil began and by 8 o'clock all of the crawfish were eaten and us girls decided we should head to the Flowood Family Festival to see Tracy Lawrence, for free... I mean, hello... who doesn't want to hear Texas Tornado? If you don't like that song, we should probably not be friends.

Let's just say, Mr. Lawrence was not ok with the MS heat either. I seriously thought he was going to die up there. It was supposed to last until 10, so we assumed he would start playing around 8. So that's when we headed up there. He was done by 9, but never fear. We got there just in time Texas Tornado and a few other classics.

Krista and Kaitlyn

Me and Mal!! Did I mention it was hot?

On Sunday, Ann-Hamilton, Hayes, Momma and I went to pick up Eleanor from FCA camp at Belhaven and had lunch at Amerigo!!! YUMMY!! Yay for girl time!!

Then Kendol and I went to see Hangover 2.
Raunchy, but O, so funny.

Then we proceeded to Buffolao Wild Wings to watch the Bulldogs beat Georgia Tech for the Regionals Title!! On, to the super regionals, we go!!

Can you see why I needed a large coke from Sonic Happy Hour and 7:15 this morning.? I am seriously dragging. Yes, I learned from Mallory this weekend that not only is Sonic Happy Hour from 2-4, but it's also in the mornings. And conveniently there is a Sonic right by Ridgeland Body Shop and Enterprise on Hwy 51, where I dropped my car off this morning to be fixed, FINALLY. P.S. I am driving a car for the first time in 9 years. I literally felt like my butt was touching the pavement. It's so weird...

On to the most important news from the weekend!!!

So So So excited. How cute are they??
And look at that bling!! Jack, you get an A+!!

Happy Monday Everyone!!!

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one} do you believe in ghosts?
For sure.

{two} are you more of a talker or more of a listener?
I would say I'm both..

{three} would you rather get up early or sleep late?
Sleep late, for sure!! What kind of question this??

{four} if you could instantly become an expert at one type of dance, what type would you choose?
Hip Hop... O, how I wish we could have taken hip hop back in high school. So fun. I will take this as an opportunity to share a video of my little sister Eleanor doing her hip hop solo at the dance recital two weeks ago.

{five} what's your favorite drink?
Water and Coca Cola Classic

{six} if your house caught fire and you could only grab three things, what would they be?
1) Our wedding pictures and as many other pictures as I could get to, for that matter.

 2) the table that JuJu gave me for college graduation and as many of the antique pieces that have been passed down to me, as I can possibly get.

3) The boxes of Christmas ornaments I've been collecting since I was born. I would just die.

{seven} if you could only visit one restaurant for the next five years, which would it be?

{eight} who inspires you the most?
OOOO I would have to say my parents, for sure!

{nine} if you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be?
Well, Elvis would be #1 if he was still alive, so my next
#1 Justin Timberlake
(I have been obsessed with him most of my life)
#2 One of the Kardashians
(I am fascinated by the whole family, sad I know)
#3 Drew Brees or One of the Mannings

{ten} sneakers or sandals?
Sandals for sure. I barely even own socks. I have to steal Kendol's to work out in. Besides my cowboy boots, any shoe that requires socks is stupid in my opinion.
