Thankful Thursday

Ok, so my friend Jamie started something fun over at her blog, so I am going to copy her!! I'm going to blog about one thing I'm thankful for, for each day of November. Lucky for you, I'm going to blog it a week at at time ("Thankful Thursday) instead of a new post everyday!

MONDAY- NOVEMBER 1, 2010
Monday is the one day of the week that I am expected to cook!! I cook lots of other days too, but always on Mondays bc Kendol has Boy Scouts. So, this Monday I decided to try to cook something new. I was going to fix homemade Chicken-N-Dumplins. So I go to the grocery store after calling my mother at least 5 times to make sure I wasn't leaving something out and knew what I was doing. When I get home, I start boiling the whole chicken (I made Kendol get out the insides of course... I was not doing that GROSS). That's the easy part. So then I get to making my dumplings. Well, my mother somehow manages to roll them out and cut them into squares. I could not, for the life of me, add enough flour to those stupid dumplings to be able to roll them out without sticking to the rolling pin. So, after about 45 minutes of fighting with the dough, I decided I was just going to drop the dumplings in by the spoonful, like my daddy does hushpuppies. It may not be the way I was supposed to do it, but they tasted just the same!! So for Monday, I am thankful for my mother, who still answers my phone calls everyday at 4:45, knowing that I only have a question about how to cook something!! After 3 and 1/2 years, you would think she would start screening that phone call everyday, but she doesn't!! Thanks Mom :)

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2010
On Tuesday, Kendol and I went down to Stephanie and Wally's to help out with some last minute wedding stuff. Mary Kathryn and I helped Stephanie with her "BOW-quets" for her wedding rehearsal and helped put bows on all of her wedding party gifts, while Kendol and Wally watched election results!! Although I could never get any of my bow-quets to turn out like I wanted them to, it was just fun to have a little girl time drinking wine and being crafty. So for Tuesday, I am thankful for great friends, new and old!! I have the best friends in the world. I could not ask for any one of them to be any better. Yea, I'm talking about all of yall... you know who you are highschool friends, college friends and new friends in Jackson!!! Yall are the best.

WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 3, 2010
After work Wednesday, I went to Byram with Stephanie to check out her church for their wedding on Saturday.. You know, since I'm the "director" and all WHAT WHAT!! (first timer AAAAHHHH) So, I was going to be home a little later than usual. When I got home, Kendol had supper ready and waiting. What a relief to not have to worry about that. Then after dinner, I start dusting bc our house is an absolute wreck... and by wreck, I mean disaster area. Kendol walked in the living room and was said "Callie, what are you doing? Put the pledge up and sit on the couch." So that's what I did. I laid on the couch for the rest of the night. So for Wednesday, I am thankful for a husband who does not expect me to do absolutely everything around the house just bc I'm the girl, like a lot of husband's do. If our house isn't spotless... he doesn't care. If all the clothes aren't washed... he doesn't care. And he cooks... ALOT!!!! I'm really really lucky.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 4, 2010
So, this week has been a real eye opener for the alot of people, especially the bulldog nation. 20 year old Nick Bell, from the Mississippi State football team, passed away on Tuesday after just about a 6 week battle with cancer. It just makes me so sad and makes me so much more motivated to run this half marathon to help St. Jude. Cancer is such a nasty disease and just so unfair. You never know when it might sneak up on you or someone you love, just like it did my grandaddy... just like it did Nick Bell and so many others!! So for Thursday, I am thankful for my health in general and for being able to run... being able to run for a purpose.. to do my tiny little part in the fight against cancer. Exactly one month until race day!!! www.mystjudeheroes.org/calliepc

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!

8

{three} scary movies or happy endings?
I'm all about a happy ending. If it makes me cry, I love it!!! Love sweet movies.

{four} do you prefer spontaneity or stability?
OOOO you have to have both. I love being on somewhat of a schedule, but I also love to throw kinks in it at times. I'm all about spontaneity.

{five} what is the most embarrassing cd that you own?
I"m going to say Nick Lechey. I honestly don't know that I've ever listened to it though. It's so old.

{six} do you watch reality tv?
Of course!!! Love the Kardashians, Kendra and Hank, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars. I used to absolutely love The Hills and The City. I'm so sad they are over even though I know they weren't real in the first place..

{seven} what is your favorite home-made meal?
My mom's tuna croquets, noodles & tomatoes and lima beans!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Where do I even start... milk, carpet, soybeans, animal fur, dye in clothing etc etc etc Lucky for me, they are not bad anymore.

{nine} if you could open your own restaurant/store, what would it be?
I would open a children's boutique or gift shop in the Dogwood area bc there isn't much to choose from in those areas. But I would absolutely love to open an interior decor store!!! OMG I would die to do that.

{ten} would you ever go skydiving (or have you been)?
I have never been, but I would go. I would be scared to death, but it would be awesome.

FABULOUS FRIDAY

A couple of reasons why this Friday is so Fab!!

~~I started off this fabulous Friday using my seat warmers!! YES!! They are my favorite and I will never have another car that doesn't have them.

~~I then started this work day off with a caramel hot chocolate from Cups and my Pandora Christmas Station... complete with all of Mariah Carey's best Christmas tunes. Speaking of... the best one is on right now "All I Want For Christmas is YOOOOOOO-WAOOOOOOO BABAY!

~~I have Girls night tonight at Amerigo to look forward to!!! WOO HOO

~~It's Friday, so that means one more day until I get to see Kaylis & Jonny and Liz & Chris! I finally get to meet this kid. I was beginning to think he isn't real.

~~On this fabulous "Maroon Friday" the bulldawgs are 6 & 2 and hopefully tomorrow will be 7 & 2!!  (and I'm making Mexican Layer Dip and Oreo Balls tonight for the tailgate... pretty fab, as well)

~~I am back up to 8 miles on my running. I have been slacking in the long distance department, always doing 3-5 miles, but I'm back in action! Pretty Excited :) 4 more weeks til race day. I have to at least get to 10 miles before then, but hopefully I'll get even farther.

~~Exactly two weeks from today Baby Hayes here!

~~Speaking of babies... Please look at these two that made my day today! Ok... maybe they aren't babies anymore :( They are growing up so fast.

Sweet Branham in his Duck Costume!!

Sweet Brantley as Buzz Lightyear!! Love it!!

HALLOWEEN ADDITION

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
I've never "seen" one, but i'm pretty sure one said my name at Meagan Rae's house one time. No, I am not kidding.

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
Last Year! Kendol and I went as Nascar fans.

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
OOOO Anything Chocolate.... Snickers, Kit Kat, Reeses

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
HHMMM.... Like I've said before, I always had awesome costumes. But, I guess I'll have to go with the trusty ole indian costume. I can't tell you how many people have worn this thing ha. It's been passed around for years. At least one person wears it every year.

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
Not Yet!! But I'm sure we will before the week is up.

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
Watcher in the Woods. I used to love that movie when I was little.

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
I've never been in a corn maze, so I guess I'll say haunted houses.

{eight} are you superstitious?
Yes. Especially when it comes to sports. If we do something good while i'm standing up, I will not sit down until we do something bad.
Example: Being that we can take our cowbells to games now, I of course, took mine to the first football game this year. I forgot it and left it in the truck. We won. Second home game, I remembered it. We lost. I have not taken it back since and we have one every game. Needless to say, I am not to blame for the current cowbell debacle.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
Heck No. Kendol would flip. He is super duper supersticious about  black cats ha.

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
Well, since Halloween is really on Sunday, but being celebrated on Saturday, it looks like I'll be rooting on my Dawgs in Starkville. Although I am way more excited about watching football, I'm really sad that I will miss the trick-or-treaters and won't get to dress up. Dressing up is my absolute favorite!!!

In celebration of Halloween, here are some of my favorite halloween pictures from years past!!

Marathon Monday

I have been bad. Very bad. I have only run once (for 30 minutes) since October 4th. AAAHHH Horrible!

I'm mad at myself, but I do admit that I needed the break. But the break is over now bc there's only 6 weeks left to train.

In my boredom, I have put together a little schedule to hopefully follow from now to race day. It has me running 4 days a week: One short run, one long run and 2 in-between.

Week 1
3 Miles - 3.1 Miles (5k) in 30:25  (10/18)
4 Miles  4 Miles in 38:41 (10/20) (new mile record @ 9:31)
5 Miles
9 Miles

Week 2
3.5 Miles  Ran 32 minutes- ipod wasn't tracking (10/26)
4.5 Miles
5 Miles
10 Miles

Week 3
3.5 Miles
5 Miles
5.5 Miles
10 Miles

Week 4
4 Miles
5 Miles
6 Miles
11 Miles

Week 5
4 Miles
5.5 Miles
6 Miles
11 Miles

Week 6
4 Miles
6 Miles
6.5 Miles
12 Miles

I'll be the first to admit this will probably never happen, but it gives me something to shoot for. Plus it will be fun to put a big ole X through the runs when I get done. My one major goal is to make my long distance for each week and hopefully reach 11-12 miles before race day!!

46 DAYS

Remember this is not about me training for a race, it is to raise money for St. Jude. If you would like to make a donation to help the sweet children at St. Jude, you can do it here!! www.mystjudeheroes.org/calliepc

Thursdays Thoughts

Just some random thoughts/ experiences from my adventure to Oxford for work.

-I will just start out by saying, I don't know how people travel all the time because you can't have a steady routine. Maybe it's because I'm in a place that I know absolutely nothing about.

-Why do I get so excited about the valour (I don't believe I've ever written that word, so I have no idea if that's spelled correctly) motel blankets?? I haven't undone the bed since I got here, just used the blankets. I have 2 at home in the linen closet that I never use ha.

-Oxford has plenty of good food and that's enough to keep me happy for a couple of days.

- From the Inn on campus to Abners is exactly 0.6 miles. (Yes, I finally went running for the first time since last Sunday)

-On my run, I met Miller's really strange, skinny jean wearing twin. I swear he looked just like him.

-I left my ipod at home, plus I had no idea where I was going, so I took my phone with me on my run.I discovered that I can text while running and that you get dirty looks from other pedestrians for playing pandora out loud. I'm sorry but I can't run in silence. It was my only option.

-I was about 20 yards away from Bill Clinton today when I went to the Union to get Chick-Fil-A. Is it sad that I didn't even care to stop and take a picture?

-I rekindled my love with Nicholas Sparks yesterday. I started "True Believer" yesterday morning while sitting in the H.R. Dept on campus "working" and finished it today. How can Mr. Sparks do this to me everytime? I don't think it has ever taken me more than 2 or 3 days to read one of his books.

-Since I finished "True Believer" (and it was fantastic, of course) I have now started on "The Last Song." Yea Yea, I have never read it or seen the movie.

-Ajax has the best Black Eyed Peas on the planet...and I don't even really like Black Eyed Peas!!

-You get lots of strange looks when you eat by yourself in a restaurant here. I eat by myself everyday so it doesn't bother me, but apparently here it's like I have a disease when I say "it'll just be one." I'm here for work people!!

-I got in the bed at 8:30 for the first time since Jr. High last night. And I did it again tonight.

-Easy A is an absolutely precious movie!! Must go see it.

-My favorite restaurant in Oxford is The Rib Cage.I doubt it's so high on other people's lists but I'm a sucker for bbq and Jackson's bbq selection sucks. This was the highlight of my week. BBQ Nachos, Miller Lite and a Football game on the tv. Can't beat that.

-I also rekindled my love for HGTV. I Forgot how much I love it. It's been a while!

-Sons of Anarchy is getting to be a little too much. It's so disappointing bc it was my favorite show.

-Baby Hayes has the cutest nursery on the planet!! Please check out Ann-Hamilton's pictures on fb. I cannot wait to get home and see the new stuff she's added since I left.

-My obsession with 90's on 9 on XM is getting out of hand. I don't think they have played a bad song since I left Jackson. LOVE

-I did my first blog from a hotel lobby computer last night. I'm sure they meant for that to be used for much more important things.

-I am now blogging this from my phone. Who knew I could write a blog from my phone?? This could get out of control!! FAST

-I have never seen so many converses, guys in skinny jeans and crazily dressed foreigners in my life!! Hysterical! I could sit in the cafeteria and people watch for hours.

-i have always known that I like to be around people (family, friends etc..) and don't require much alone time, so four days of being alone is enough for me. I haven't carried on a real conversation since Tuesday, except over the phone. 5 o'clock tomorrow can't come fast enough!

-And last but not least, the Hank Jr/Jamey Johnson concert is in 2 days and AH's second baby shower is Sunday!! Maybe that's why I'm so anxious to get out of here.

Ok I've rambled on long enough that it's finally time to go to bed! WOOHOO

P.S. Can you tell I'm bored?

Check ya on the flip side
